  • 5 star reviewTop notch pub, very friendly staff and landlord.Nothing was too much trouble as I had special dietary needs. The food was very good, with a vegetarian menu too.A great anniversary meal!

  • 5 star reviewCan't disagree enough with some of the below comments. Andy (the new landlord) has been a breath of fresh air for this pub and the village. If he refused you entry I'm sure he had a good reason.

  • 4 star reviewReally sad when someone has a bad experience and tries to harm a place's reputation in revenge. The table of six storytellers give their point of view repeatedly, feel sorry for the landlord. My wife and I were at this pub recently when staying at Keldy Cabins. Good beer, and very pleasant landlord, good to talk to and had a good attitude about his pub. Didn't eat but it looked nice enough when going to other people.

  • 1 star reviewI agree with Jenna Foxton, Plus the fact that the Landlord is an "Oaf". If it was possible not to award any sort of rating I would.

  • 1 star reviewDisappointing visit on new years eve. New landlord rudely refused to honour our table for 6 reservation because our dog was 'too big' even though he had been informed at the time of booking that the dog was big. 6.05pm new years eve is not the time to be looking for alternative eating arrangements, not that he was interested. The Buck Inn is a nice pub and the only pub in Wrelton but its not the only pub in the area. no stars

  • 1 star reviewJust returned from Wrelton, our new year break of choice and would like to thank the new landlord of The Buck Inn for making our new years eve fantastic by refusing to honour my phone reservation of a table for 6 plus big dog at 6pm - because said dog was too big ! No apologies from him - just a rude attitude. He even lied saying I had'nt told him the dog was big (I ALWAYS do because he is a big dog and I do that because I appreciate that not all establishments welcome big dogs) When we said he should honour his acceptance of our reservation,he actually said we could stay if we promised to leave by 7 before they got busy, trying to justify this by saying he had a husky himself which, because it was bigger than mine, never enters the pub. My dog is a malamute but he did'nt know the difference between that and a husky so I assume he was lying again. We declined his insulting offer anyway and went on to have a superb evening elsewhere. I later heard that he told other diners that they should take their children home by 9pm yet when his friends arrived, their kids were allowed to stay in the pub. Disgraceful behaviour. The Buck Inn is a nice pub ruined by an unfriendly, disrespectful landlord and should be avoided while he is in charge. I will visit again if the pub survives his blundering. Hope it does'nt become another boarded up casualty of mis-management. The one star award is because I dont think the site will let me submit this without at least one ,but of course I really mean "No stars".
