• The Canute is not a Wetherspoons pub! Theirs, called the Sweyn Forkbeard, is a few doors away - standard Wetherspoons fare. Maybe Mr Page's brain was addled by too much sour beer. Anyway, I echo his rating as one is required to post a comment and I have never been tempted into the Canute.

• what a dump, a pub wetherspoons have not spent a penny on since it opened, broken down furniture, filthy tables, disabled toilet that the disabled cannot use because all the idle public use it as well and leave it in a filthy condition, it used to be cleaned every hour but no0one bothers anymore, the entry doors off silver street cannot be opened by the elderly or the disabled as the hinges have worn so much that the door binds on the door threshold, the heating system is always broken down and even when it is working the heat does not reach the silver street end of the pub, what a disgrace this pub is, some people say the food is not to bad but i would not eat in there because if they cannot be bothered to keep the public area clean what is the kitchen like, the beer is nearly always sour as the staff cannot or dont know how to clean the pipes and pumps out properly, no, wetherspoons should be ashamed of themselves for letting a pub get in a state like this plus it's a waste of time asking the area manager to get any repairs done as all he thinks about is HIS bonus, no repairs more bonus for him thats why the place is so run down, i have had enough of this place, i have given them my custom since it opened but now i have had enough, goodbye wetherspoons i am off to find a decent pub who value my custom.
