  • 2 star reviewHad a lunchtime sandwich. The menu said it came in a baguette and I asked how big. The waitress gestured with her hands and it looked rather big so we decided to share. Half a baguette arrived. How disappointed. Got a portion of very expensive chips.£3for 10 chips!!!!!!

  • 2 star reviewWe visited this pub near the canal, on the day AFTER the new landlord Alan had moved in. He made us feel very welcome and hoped to meet the challenge of opening the restaurant in time. A group of 16 of us (including musicians and singers) will be visiting Beverley for a walking holiday and plan to have an evening of music and relaxation there. Alan needs and would welcome support so please give him a chance.

  • 5 star reviewWe have been visiting the Crown And Anchor Pub now for over 20 years and during this time we have seen many changes of Landlords, Staff and quality of Menu. Having read some of the previous negative reviews, I think it is very important to point out that since the arrival of the new Landlord and Landlady in June of this year, that the overall quality of service has improved massively. We regularly enjoy food and drinks at this venue and have even booked a table in December for our annual works xmas party. We will continue to recommend the Crown and Anchor to all customers whom are looking for a nice location, good food and a warm welcome.

  • 5 star reviewWe went to the crown & Anchor today for lunch. It was superb. The real ales we well conditioned and the food and service was excellent. One of the best pub lunches my family and I have enjoyed for ages. I had the rump steak and my wife had duck from the specials board, both were cooked to perfection. The girl behind the bar was very polite and helpful. We will recommend the pub to all our friends without hesitation.

  • 1 star reviewWORST CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH WE HAVE EVER HAD.Bad cold food, bad service all round. Two people waiting for their main course so everyone had nearly finished by the time is came. A TRANSPORT CAFE would have done better and it cost over £400 plus drinks. I would not given a star rating but have to as this will not be printed if I don't. STAY CLEAR PLEASE.

  • 1 star reviewThis must go down as the worst meal I have had in many years. Steak & ale pie, pastry raw, filling gunge. Steer well clear.

  • 1 star reviewMy family and I visited this public house for Sunday lunch on 24/04/11, what a shambles it was disgusting both the service and the food, we waited for over an hour for the first person to be served food and the last one got theirs 2 hours later, if there was a minus star rating it still wouldn't go down far enough what a shambles.
