  • 2 star reviewMy wife and a friend booked a meal a week ago for Sunday 12th July but when they went up the person had not booked the table so they had to eat in the bar. The steak my wife ordered was not well done. My wife and I are regular eaters at the "Eagle and Child" so I am very disapointed at that experience. I sometimes think there is not enough staff on at peak times. Poor.

  • 5 star reviewLunched with my wife and daughter. First time since the refurbishment that I have visited the Pub Restaurant. I have been a customer for many many years. What a pleasure this lunch was. Lovely country pub/dining experience it was. Good menus, lovely pleasant staff and very nice surroundings. Very pleased with all aspects of this visit and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you all.

  • 5 star reviewCalled in by chance yesterday evening when visiting Doncaster. What a lovely surprise, very clean and welcoming, nice decor and friendly staff. Real ale available so ordered a drink. Quite a number dining and it was only about 6.30. Menu with plenty of choice plus Specials board and offer of two steaks/chicken/salmon for £20 incl botttle of wine. The dining area was very clean and looked inviting so decide to eat. Lovely food, well presented, piping hot and staff attentive but not overwhelming. Will visit again when next tin the area.

  • 1 star reviewAte in the pub for the first time after the refurbishment. We were very disappointed. Long wait for food to find the chicken not cooked and the gammon so salty it made me sick. Still was charged full price even though we couldnt eat the meal. Will not be returning and wouldn't recommend.

  • 5 star reviewSince The Eagle & Child reopened before Christmas my wife & I have visited this pub several times now, after not visiting the place for the last few years & I must say the food has been top notch. It's well worth the extra wait & money for freshly cooked food. Like the last person who commented stated, if you like microwave food & being surrounded by drunken morons then visit the Three Horseshoes. The new owners have done a great job so far & we as a family will be supporting our new look village pub.

  • 4 star reviewthe eagle and child used to be a lovely pub, with great food, the foods still great, but yes the pub is very dated, and aparently closed at the moment awaiting refurbishment..think they need to get a shift on, as they seem to be taking their time even starting this.Unlike the previous reviewer i wouldnt be popping down the road to the three horseshoes, yes maybe if i had a taste for pre packaged meals, warmed up in a microwave!! been going to the eagle for about 20yrs, never ever had a dicky tummy, ( maybe the last reviewer had too much ale!! ) come on eagle, re open please...soon.x

  • 2 star reviewSad to say not been in for many months (years?) now as the place is in dire need of a refurbishment, I don't mean that in "it's dirty" but just needs livening up, opening up and the 80's decor ditching. Beer is good and the food okay if not a little expensive (and we won't mention the unconfirmed icky stomach after two seperate visits!). We prefer to eat and socialise in the three horse shoes next village despite living in auckley and wanting to support real ale and real food. come on Brian sort yourself out
