  • 4 star reviewHaving had a meal at your establishment on Saturday 25th Jan 2014, we found it to be a great improvement. The refurbishment is very nice and up to date, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the food was very good. Overall a very nice lunch time venue, and we will visit again when next in the area.

  • 1 star reviewjust returned home from what can only be described as the very worst pub meal I have ever had. pate starter was served with wilted rocket and the pate itself was sweaty and warm. I had half a chicken bbq melt which was so badly burnt I could not physically bite the bacon on top, I unfortunately had a side order of sweet corn fritta which could only be described as vile burnt and more like nut brittle. My second side dish was forgotten altogether until prompted after all meals had been served which in itself took ten minutes. this was accompanied by a two hour wait for our main course, which if it was not for the fact of the company we were in would have been unacceptable however the two hour wait was actually better than the meal in the end. horrid time at a lost/directionless pub with no atmosphere what a waist of money renovating this pub to such a high standard then failing in every other business segment. VERY POOR SHOW this review does not give half star ratings if it did that would reflect my ideal rating

  • 1 star reviewNot accommodating and the food was worse. Even the side salads were brown, rotting and needed binning. They didn't seem to care. Marstons...you should be ashamed to be associated with this one

  • 2 star reviewWe visited the griffin in for a golden wedding anniversary with a party of sixteen. I won't be visiting again. Rude, ignorant bar staff one in particular. Steaks not cooked .. Prawns WARM .. Hot starters cold.. Generally unorganised.. Some staff were polite and gave good service but well overlooked by bad management.. Lovely place in the right hands..

  • 3 star reviewNice place, especially outside on a warm summers day or evening.Very good food and real value for money. However! service is very slow, and the staff not patricularly customer friendy. Try pointing out a dirty spoon and see what reaction you get, IS THAT ALRIGHT in a very surly tone. Also a real trial to get your bill after your meal.Perhaps the management should educate the staff to look after the customers rather than conducting their own conversations. Bar service also rubbish due to lack of staff, one or two people trying to cope with drinks only clientele and also restaurant orders. Also two days out of three Marstons Pedigree OFF,causing the purchase of inferior but more expensive brews. Is this management policy to boost profits? Ovverall an establishment that could be a real gem but not under the current management! GET A GRIP!
