• Tried to eat at the Hastings. The starters were delicious. sadly the main let them down, We ordered Roast Beef. The food was inedible not a slice of beef in sight just a mound of brown sludge with a bit of a soapy taste to it. Clearing the table, the waitress asked if everything was O.K. Clearly as was not well as our plates were as full as when she had delivered them. I told her that we did not not like the food that the so called beef was just mush. Her reply answer to this was to inform us that "personally I love the roast beef. Not what I expected to hear. We paid and left.

• My sister and her other half are over here on holiday from Sydney, they often eat out at really good restaurants over in Oz and I was flummoxed as to where to take them for a half decent meal, we ended up at ‘The Hastings’ purely because it was within walking distance but my goodness what a gem we have discovered. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely fantastic, freshly cooked to order and all home-made, absolutely delicious. So good in fact, that my sister and her hubby have been back again and we now plan to try their Sunday lunch, if it’s half as good as the meal we had then I cannot wait! One of the meals we ordered was a gammon steak, this was served with FRESH pineapple – I was flabbergasted! If you like frozen, microwave meals then this is definitely not for you however, if you really appreciate home-cooked food then you have GOT to pay this place a visit – home cooked proper chips, you can’t beat them!
