• My wife booked an MOT at sleaford kwik fit. I went to pick up the car only to be told it had failed due to a noisy offside wheel bearing. The manager acted surprised that I hadn't heard the rough bearing as it "made a real racket when spun by hand". This was news to me. I drove home with the window open, listening intently during the drive. I heard nothing unusual. I then, jacked the car up and spun the wheel myself. Again, sounded absolutely fine. Now getting very suspicious I called kwik fit to tell them I was going to appeal the mot failure. I went back to pick up the appeal failure paperwork and was invited to listen to the wheel being spun again. The manager, MOT tester and I stood in absolute silence with our ears right up against the wheel.... Mmm, still sounds fine and certainly not the racket it was described to me as. The 3 of us went to the other side of the car to listen in silence to the other wheel which sounded surprisingly similar. Finally on the 3rd listen there was a barely discernible tiny noise. Sticking to their guns, kwik fit would not back down and when I asked where the " racket" was I just got sheepish looks. 2 days later, I got my local trustworthy garage at Nocton Heath to give a second opinion. Surprise surprise they told me the bearing is well within tolerances and should never have failed the MOT. Kwik Fit have unfortunately lived up to their sorry reputation and I would recommend steering clear of these chancers in the future. What a shame.

• Absolutely appaulling service. Battery failed after 2 years. As it had a 3 year warranty, I took it back to Kwik Fit who tested the battery and told me that something was draining the battery. Which I knew there wasn't.... The cranking speed continued to slow down and as the cold weather was coming, wanted this rectified. Took it back to Kwik Fit for another test, which they did, but in the process did something as on driving away has my ABS, PAS and Traction Control Light warnings on. Thinking that it just needed a power cycle, drove home and had to return the next morning as the faults were still there. I demanded that the battery was replaced, which they did but could not fix the errors. I was told that I had to take it to Vauxhall (at my own cost!). I called Kwik Fit HQ and an Area Manager called with the message that "prove it was Kwik Fit or tuff!". No kidding, I nearly feel on floor and stood with my mouth open for about 10 minutes in shock. I called again and asked to speak to whoever was in charge of customer services. I spoke with a Garry Murray, who claimed that the car must have been broken already despite driving it in to kwik in a perfect manner and driving it out resembling a christmas tree with all the warning lights on the dashboard. This apparently is coincidence! The car went to Vauxhall the next day who could not rectify the fault despite having the car all day reprogramming boards and recalibrating systems. This has cost me £100, cheap as they felt my pain from Kwik Fit. However, the car is back in Vauxhall 6 weeks later, to have the CIM replaced which is going to cost me £600!
