• Fantastic food, fairly reasonable prices The cakes are to die for! I don't know where the previous reviewer went, it certainly wasn't as described above. very clean, staff (I think it was the owner) was really friendly and helped me plan a route to cycle with some hidden local gems. one can only assume that the previous review has a grudge or something against this cafe, or was a bad day!

• Went over to the island for the day at Easter with my grandchildren. Decided to have lunch at the Mariners as I it is handy for ferry, that being the only good thing in its favour. The food ordered sandwiches, jacket potato not exactly needing Gordan Ramsey to advise on cooking where disgusting... cheap supermarket basics bread and margarine, throw on an old chipped dated plate as where the coffee cups stained and chipped, jacket and filling horrendous, the whole place needs a good clean tables and chairs with old food stuck in them and dirty water stained curtains at the windows. Why block the view of the square from the windows with the horrid curtains... the lady that served us,I think was the owner as she was talking very loudly at the side of our table to a friend I think about prices and lack off customers, when I mentioned the food I was promptly told eat elswhere if I had a problem... Some owner no wonder the place is as it is. I dont mind paying good money for good food but that owner would not know good food if it was in front of her. My 2 grandchildren 7 and 9 years will eat anything but they wouldn't eat the food she served I rest my case, would insist people walk straight past the cafe and go up the high street 2 lovely cafe's up there, excellent food, staff, and prices.
