• When I initially drove in to the grounds I thought - WOW! What a beautiful setting this hotel is in! Acres of fantastic sprawling lawns, lakes, trees complete with ducks and black swans.Shame the hotel itself couldn't live up to it's surroundings! Staff were a little removed and stand-offish. Our room ('Hunnysuckle' at the top of the building) dingy and not particularly inviting, only one bedside lamp working, packet of half eaten biscuits on the tea tray, had to ask for tea bags and milk as there was only a couple of each, eventually brought up by some young lad who proceeded to climb the many staircases to our attic room with the milk and tea bags cupped in his sweaty little hands and after knocking on the door proceeded to tip them into our hands, quite peculiar!We were looking forward to the breakfast, again turned out to be somewhat disappointing. Several of the items listed on the breakfast menu didn't appear, no yogurts, no fruit salad, meager choice of cereals. I have tasted a better full English in a supermarket cafeteria. Don't choose your eggs scrambled unless you prefer them cooked to destruction. The toast was brought to the table when the breakfast order was taken (about 15 minutes before the meal arrived) consequently when wanted to accompany the meal it was stone cold!This place (and staff) lacked the finer points that could have made it a wonderful stay.If the owners, managers or staff read this - COME ON, GET IT TOGETHER!
