  • 5 star reviewGoodness knows where some of these reviewers have eaten previously. The Punch Bowl Carvery is the best I have ever been to. I feel there may be a few personal issues involved. Don't believe all you read. Try it yourself and make your own decisions.

  • 1 star reviewFirstly .i would like to point out i am not an employee of the newdigate or any other food chain.me and my 80 year old mother visited the punch bowl and had an awful carvery.now the gravy issue..having plated our dinners up we did put gravy over our food but not alot on as i had to carry two dinners in my hands and support my mother .from the carvery..through the bar..to where we were seated...so when we were seated and eating our dinner we both said our dinner was dry so instead of carrying two dinners all the way back i went and asked for a gravy bowl ..thats the reason.and as i said in the other comment about the food we had ..thats what we thought of it..if we would of enjoyed it we would of said but we didnt .

  • 5 star reviewthinking the negative review must be an employee of newdigate. ive eaten at both often and although i like newdigate carvery it is not a patch on the punch bowls. always fresh veg and great choice of meat.cant understand the gravy thing also because its next to the carvery. what was said when you complained to staff or have you just done an annon hatchet job. once again its a great carvery.

  • 1 star reviewThe sunday carvery here has got to be the worst meal me and my mother have ever had.we were told we had to wait till we were told we could get our dinner ..20 minutes later we was told we could get our dinner .we couldnt understand why the wait as we were seated in the bar and in the 20 minutes nobody had been to the carvery so the the food isnt going to be the freshest..When we were plating up our food the potato has to. be the worst ever ive ever seen .it looked like wallpaper paste with added instant mash (it didnt taste any better) all the veg ecept the carrots were raw. the roast potatos had ran out and nobody there to replace them.the mixed peppers with mushrooms were cold and when eating my dinner i went and asked for a gravy bowl mainly to pour over my dinner to warm it up .when i asked for one the woman replied .is it for gravy....yer thats wot gravy dishes are for i thought..this place in my eyes is very poorly run. because the resturant had many empty tables and jet we had to be seated in the bar and we did notice people hanging around the bar area and passage waiting to be called in ..not organised at all because the 45 minutes we was there the cavery hadnt been touched and no lids covering any veg up.. if we could give this place no stars we would.well its back to the newdigate next week. a place alot better run
