  • 1 star reviewTerrible place in gloucester!!! Terrible service terrible food and terrible environment! staff were extremely rude towards me and my wife I complained there was a hair in my food the owner only accused my wife of it being hers!! It was clearly a blonde hair and my wife's is dark brown! The owner clearly cannot cope with negative comments and should take an anger management course! Be warned do not visit!!!

  • 1 star reviewI had driven past this pub on a few occasions, so took my partner and a couple of friends there for dinner. The greeting we recieved was an early indication of the total disregard for polite service that we experienced throughout the meal. We initially thought this may be a dry sense of humour, but it was soon clear that it was just poor manners. We took our seats and proceeded to order. We were hopeful that the food may go some way to forgiving the frosty service, but again we were dissapointed. The fish dish was very greacy and full of bones, not to mention cold. My friend had the lamb dish which was chewy and lacking in appropriate seasoning. At the end of the meal, we were tempted to offer some constructive feedback, but though better of it by the scowl on the waitresses face. I don't think we will be returning again.

  • 1 star reviewI wasn't impressed with my experience of this pub. The service left a lot to be desired, and the foot wasn't very special. I will not be returning

  • 1 star reviewTerrible meal. The lamb tasted strange, and eventually made my wife ill. when I complained I was told that I was wrong, and that it was fine. Poor meal only matched by the even worse service.

  • 5 star reviewThe review from a Mr Bill Mathews is a fictional review its from the same guy complaining about the jokes in the toilet. But he is doing me a great favour as trade is booming with people coming for the food and to see the jokes.

  • 1 star reviewWhat a dissapointment this place was. It was recommended to me some time ago so I went along to try it out. I wish I hadn't now. The food was a very poor standard, and when I complained I recieved a a load of abuse from the management. I won't be going back there again.

  • 1 star reviewWhat an unbelievable experience I have just had at the Queens Head – Unbelievably BAD may I add. Having just been to this pub for Sunday lunch, we booked easily, and were welcomed as we arrived. We all had the roast, which was quite tasty. This was looking like a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all. How things can so easily go wrong…. I visited the gents after the meal, and noticed a very scrappy printed piece of paper hanging on the wall containing about 7 or 8 jokes. I read this and to my astonishment these jokes were very inappropriate. One of them was clearly racist, and others of a sexist nature. I admit that a lot of people may not be offended by these, but some people would certainly be… myself included. I assumed that no establishment could ever have put these up themselves, so assumed it must have been another customer. I took it down and politely mentioned to the waitress that I didn’t think this was very appropriate, and that a customer must have put it up as a joke. She explained that the landlord was actually responsible for publishing this material, which was a total shock to me. I gave the paper to the waitress and returned to my table. A couple of minutes later, the overly aggressive landlord arrived at my table and unleashed a very aggressive tirade towards me and my party. He claimed it was his pub and he can put up what he wanted. Never once did he even ask what my motives were or ask what was so offensive. He continued that if I didn’t like it, I can get out of his pub. He continued to shout that these jokes had been published for 2 months, and nobody else had complained (which I find amazing to believe) My party and I sat there in a state of shock. Firstly amazed that someone in the service industry would be so openly racist in his apparently amusing material. Secondly, that he would be so aggressive and argumentative with his customers. Afterwards, a number of other customers in the pub approached me seemingly sharing my shock at the landlords attitude. How this place is still in business I have no idea. If he treats everyone like that I have no doubt he will insult everyone who enters his door. I will never return to this pub, and would advise anyone else to seek an alternative. People like this create a negative atmosphere, and don’t deserve to be in business.
