Owner description of Snakes and Slides

"Snakes and Slides is one of the largest childrens indoor play and party venues in Manchester, with a huge multi-level soft play frame that reaches an incredible height. In addition to this huge three tier play frame we also have a dedicated built-in Baby Area and Toddler Area with height appropriate soft play equipment allowing babies and toddlers to explore the play centre at their own pace."

  • 1 star reviewMy husband and I took our 3 year old daughter and our 6 month old son here for the first time this morning, one thing we both agreed on was that we will never go back there again and we would never recommend this place to anyone, the reason being is that the place is a BIG accident waiting to happen, on the website it states that there are different sections to the play area the baby area (under 2's only), the toddler area (2 - 5 years only) and the junior area (5 years plus only) what it fails to tell you that despite these area's being set up and clearly signed, children of all different ages are free to run in and around ALL the play area's as they wish. I was unable to take my son into the baby area because children around the ages of 4+ were running round the area and throwing the large soft toys around and at each other. We had to keep pulling our daughter out of the toddler area because groups of children at least 8 - 10 years old were running in charging round and diving into the ball pit and again throwing the larger soft toys around and at each other. Our daughter got very frustrated as she saw children her age and younger entering the junior section and wanted to join in, therefore my husband went into the section to see if it would be suitable, just to find the children there where left to run wild and misuse the equipment (because of how the junior section is set out you can not see anything that is there or where your children are from where you are sat at the tables and chairs) there were even a couple of children physically fighting because they had disagreed on something (which was well out of sight from parents and staff). The go karting area is ok when the parents are on the go kart's with the children, however when the children are left on their own unsupervised to drive the go kart's this again becomes a danger as they are left to smash the kart's into each other, the final straw came when our daughter was in the ball pit of the toddler play area and a group of 4 children (at least 10 years old) jumped into the area and dived into the pit missing my daughter by a fraction, I went straight to the reception desk (as my husband went to rescue our daughter) and advised the staff there that there were older children in the toddler area who had just nearly jumped on top of my daughter, the girl there advised me that she would send somebody over to ensure that the older children were asked to leave the toddler area however 20 minutes later no member of staff had turned up and the older children were still left to run round the baby and toddler section, I have no idea how long it took for a member of staff to go over and supervise the areas as we packed up our things and left early. Knowing what I know now it is no wonder the reception staff stress their policy that once you have entered the play area (even if it is for just 5 minutes) you are given no refund, it is a shame they are not as firm with their health and safety policy!!! For this place to become safe they really need to get staff to supervise the play sections properly and ensure that all the age restrictions on the play sections are followed at all times and that any dangerous behaviour is stopped straight away (even when parents were with their children in the toddler and baby section as my husband and I were it did not stop the older children diving into the areas and running round barging younger children out of the way and throwing the soft play centre toys). I am unable comment of the food and drink quality as I refused point blank to give the place any more of my business. Soft play centre's are supposed to comply with health and safety regulations however they are very quick to say they do not give members of the public copies of their risk assessment or even allow us to see it (as I asked or a copy before leaving) I sure hope they have them available when they get their yearly inspection......
