  • 1 star reviewHad a meal 2 weeks ago, service was terrible got asked to wait outside in the rain whilst table was ready. Staff forgetful and food nothing to get excited about. Won't be going back that's for sure.

  • 1 star reviewThe best we can say about the White Horse now is average - it is trying to be something it is not. We have previously visited this pub on many ocassions and have enjoyed superb food at reasonable prices, along with very friendly staff and landlord, all of whom had a sense of humour, much more than can be said for our experience last night. Four of us went for a meal and were very disappointed. The wines nice but are very expensive, however the beer was well kept and reasonably priced. We ordered 2 lamb curries which were expensive but nice; they came in large soup-type dishes, one assumes to attempt to disguise the child-sized portions. The 'fillet' steak was extremely overpriced and was more like sirloin. It came with an inedible, over-peppered sauce, doorstep chips that were not quite cooked, and a 'salad' which consisted of a soup bowl full of leaves, 6 very thin slices of cucumber, a bit of onion and a drizzle of dressing. The 'Duet of Salmon' was the nicest and best value for money, although the fact that it was a cold dish was not stated and we didn't find out until it arrived. The 'waiter' came across as non-genuine. Dogs are allowed but only in the tap room which has an enormous screen showing sport. We left hungry and considerably poorer than when we arrived. Really not impressed and we will on no account be returning. Very poor overall.

  • 1 star reviewVisited last night on a recommendation. I was in a party of ten. Food seemed nice although a couple of us complained about our meals. The manager refused to acknowledge anything was wrong saying he had not had any complaints since taking over 8 week ago (clearly not true) and eventually asked one person to leave the pub. I was then given my bill for two people on a Post-it, when I questioned the £70 charge they said it was right. I insisted they check the cost and they noticed they had charged me £33.95 for a starter rather than £ 3.95. After leaving the pub myself and another were person violently sick and have been unwell all night. Another person fell ill last night and another felt ill this morning. The others were fine. Be careful!!!!!

  • 2 star reviewWent originally 4weeks ago. Food was devine, atmosphere fantastic and service amazing. However, went again last night. New chef has certainly impacted negatively. Food acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Owners very defensive when we complained that food not of same previous quality. Won't be returning.
