• was a customer of this pub enjoying its food and Karaoke nights. Until last night when in subzero temperatures I was turned away at the door by a bloke who went by the name of 'Steve' their doorman, who said I was barred from entry because I was dressed in 'work clothes' Which was strange since I'd been to Karaoke on previous two Thursday nights with no issue. I put this to him and Steve explained that the rules had changed and since the students were now off, dress-up rules applied until the end of January. I had to accept what he said although there was no mention of this anywhere. I still wasn't clear exactly what the definition of work clothes was so I pressed him Apparently it was because I was wearing jeans and trainers. Whilst me and my friend were shivering talking to him in the freezing temperatures, a group of lads went by wearing jeans and trainers also but were not checked or barred entry. I put this to Steve but he said that was ok and mine looked dirty. I have to abide by the decision and there are no hard feelings on my part- Steve was just doing his job - turning away customers who are not dressed to impress like he should on a bitterly cold winter night But I like to be assured of a good evening so obviously I won't recommend Yates to anyone
