  • 1 star reviewwhere to start ...very overpriced fish and chips which are at the best average! a huge smelly dog wandering about bored out of its mind! and as much atmosphere as a dental surgery waiting room.. I was looking forward to coming here as I generally like Gray & sons pubs and have drove past this pub many times, what a disappointment! Reading between the lines I can only assume the reviews have been written by the landlord/Landlady themselves?

  • 1 star reviewIf you want good food - go to a proper restaurant. If you want fish and chips - go to a proper fish and chip shop. If you want good beer - go to a proper pub that looks after it. If you want civil conversation - go any where other than the Bakers Arms. A highly undesirable public house run by amatures.

  • 2 star reviewI do not take reviews that seriously, but there does seem to be issues in the pub that I found a bit disturbing by general conversation overheard. The meal I had was very average, but the surroundings quite pleasant. There is room for improvement, I was a bit concerned about a comment that a dog had bitten a customer. Not to keen on dogs in pubs for that very reason.

  • 4 star reviewThis is a lovely pub with restaurant attached and a beer garden in the warmer weather. It was a dump years ago before the new owners took over, and they have transformed it from the shabby place it used to be into the best pub in the village. The food is good value, the beers are well kept and the staff are friendly and efficient. I don't recognise the pub from the very unpleasant comments made here and can only conclude that it is a malicious person with an axe to grind. All I can say is try it yourself and you will not be disappointed.

  • 5 star reviewI have to wonder at the bad reviews as they are so far from the experience that I recently had there. I went to a Spanish theme night and had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious served over 5 courses and having been to southern Spain many times I was impressed with what was served and how authentic it was. There was a lovely man playing soft acoustic music throughout all of which added to the general ambience of the evening. The Landlord and Landlady were lovely and it's clear that they are working incredibly hard to make this pub a great venue for food as well as an enjoyable location to sit and have a good pint.

  • 5 star reviewLovely pub, warm welcome by management and bar staff. Great food, really enjoyed our lovely roast dinner. Have experienced the great Fish & Chips on a Friday evening. Highly recommended.

  • 5 star reviewYes i agree with the previous comment, i was in the pub last night and this sight come up in conversation, i couldn't believe it so i had to check for myself. The nasty comments are so untrue, i have drunk in this pub for nearly 5 years and the improvment is amazing not just to the deco but the whole atmosphere. This pub was a real dive 5 years ago and has changed so much it now has a really lovely traditional bar and a fab seperate restaurant all of which are immaculate. Also the well know fish & chips is nothing short of excellent. These posted comments seem to have started all over the web since end of last year, It also coinsides with a rather drunk gentleman being ask to leave and he vowed to ruin the pub, Coincidence I DON'T think. I feel strongly that such good work is being ruined. My only advise is go in and see for yourself.

  • 5 star reviewI think the previous reviews have been placed by a malicious visitor and has used different names for the comments. The food is very good and good value for money. The owners are also very nice and welcoming people who are trying very hard to improve and provide good food in Danbury. My wife and I would certainly recommend.

  • 1 star reviewDitto with comments below. Found the landlady particularly obnoxious. The Bakers Arms should not be allowed to write there own reviews in the Danbury Journal. A very unpleasant experience not to be repeated.

  • 1 star reviewVery disapointing. We had a meal in the 'new' restaurant, it was very pleasing to the eye, but freezing cold, portable heaters were put out after complaining. The food was very average bar snack style and the wine overpriced. We were not happy with the staffs' general attitude towards us and have no wish to return. Maybe it was a oneoff, but certainly not going to bother to find out.

  • 1 star reviewBad beer, bad food, bad attitude of owners. What used to be a nice pub has been ruined.

  • 1 star reviewI took my parents to try the restaurant as it appeared to be highly rated in the Danbury Journal, but that rating was obviously made by the landlady and landlord. The food was greasy, the vegtables were microwaved, the menu consisted of fried food only and the wine was overpriced for plonk. My parents and myself have no wish to return, I even picked up dog hairs on my dress.
