• this pub is trying too hard and is reaching further than it ought to. It does NOT have the customer base it wishes it has. I have had very important meals here ie: wedding anni and birthdays and family occasions here and I have found the owners very nice BUT.......there is a serious lack of honest customer service. The service is VERY slow even though there is only about 5 tables. The staff are personable, but they seem rather disorganized and confused at times . The tables are PACKED with things like cheap glassware and side plates that NEVER EVER get used. They are there for SHOW and nothing else. At the end of the evening all the cheap glassware and stemware and side plates are removed with nothing put in or on them. I have been there for enough meals to know that this is all show, all the glassware and side plates NEVER get used.They do NOT offer free bread for the side plates which never get used. They do NOT even come to the tables with a cask of ice water to account for the extra glasses on the tables. This establishment is trying to make out that they are more classy than they are. I was very disappointed with my meal which had tons of black pepper on it. We mostly ordered the steaks which were £14 odd and it came with FROZEN french fries!!!!!!!!!!!! If you order a £14 rib-eye steak, you expect, nay, DEMAND hand-cut chips and a decent side salad. Shame on you Beaconsfield Arms for serving cheap 'fries'!!! Your pork loin dish with the 'seared' squid, is a TASTELESS non-entity. The potato rosti was tastless as was the rest of the dish. The tenderloin was dry and why were there about 10 peas on the plate? The tenderloin plate needs a total re-think or removal. Stop thinking you are 3 star and aim for really superb good home cooked 2 star and you will be onto a winner. Lose the fake pretention and go for good honest basics that will get people coming back. Do your homework owners and chef............
