• My husband and I Stayed at Benvane Cottage in October 2011 for one week. The cottage was lovely and welcoming and the scenery very picturesque and was ideal for walking and exploring the local area. Beware the owner though, upon arrival the door key wasn't where she told us it would be in fact there was no key whatsoever. When I contacted her she said she had forgotten that the cottage had been booked for that week so no cleaning had been carried out. She asked if we could go into Callender for a cup of coffee so that she could drop the key off and clean the cottage which my husband and I did but weren't happy about after all it took us 5 hours by car to get to the cottage in the first place so we just wanted to sit down and kick our shoes off. When we did arrive back at the cottage the owner had left £10.00 on the table for us to buy a bottle of wine as a trade off but this was the amount that my husband and I had spent on coffee whilst waiting for the cottage to be cleaned. The price that we paid also included an initial supply of wood for the wood burner but no wood was supplied, when I contacted the owner to inform her of this she just replied by text message 'this is something that I would normally do but not today' she offered no explanation apology or partial refund.
