• Really pleased with the car but unfortunately after leaving the showroom I glanced at the fuel gauge and the needle was sitting in between the the two red lines, running on empty! I had no idea where the nearest petrol station was between Liskeard and Fraddon (don't think there is one?), so had to sweat until I reached Fraddon services. I didn't really try to barter on price but as the tax was also on empty asked if they would pay half on year tax, which they agreed to. My fault again, I didn't check the disc before pulling away, paid my half of the tax but later my wife noticed a 6 month disc! I contacted Dale (salesman) expecting a hands up, sorry, immediate refund, but no, he couldn't, or wouldn't see my point, so I will now have to pay for the next 6 months tax. Very short sighted really, as until then I was very impressed with Castle, and have financially better off friends who can afford top of the range motors that Castle deal in, and was singing their praises to them, but not now, and they too are chuckling at my expense, obviously had more experience of traders than me, and so Castle have possibly missed out on some hot sales. Why oh why are companies so short sighted, word gets around, and lets face it, you can never know the true potential of a customer, he may be a one off purchaser, or become a loyal customer, or like me, happen to know friends who are always on the look out to change their prestige motors for another (you know who you are, lucky sods). There you go then, I'm still very happy with my purchase, but a company that sells you a lovely car but leaves no fuel in it, is beaten down by £110 on a 27k car, but then doesn't honour the agreement, well, what more can I say but watch you step. Make sure all the I's are dotted n the T's crossed, oh, and check the fuel gauge before leaving the showroom. I really thought I'd found a decent car company in Castle....do you know of a decent one???

• Castle Motors talk a good service - their salesman, Christopher, makes all the right noises when promising dedicated aftersales service to sort out any snags. I gave up half a day to take my (expensive) car back to eliminate a constant annoying squeak in the boot. After hearing their Service Director telling the technician, "we're not going to waste our time sorting out rattles and squeaks", I drove the car home with a severely overtightened boot door, the squeak persisting. A call to Christopher had him promising to sort it out. A week later, I had heard nothing back. So, I have adjusted the boot door back to normal tolerances and had the squeak sorted out by another dealer. It took them 5 minutes to diagnose it in a completely different part of the boot. Conclusion - Castle Motors look like an upmarket outfit, but underneath they're fully signed up with the Cornish "Keep It Crap" Brigade.
