• You are drawn in by the telephone charm Sybil, but, like the crumbling sign in the comedy sketch the strain of running the place all too evident. Sybil is like the 70’s seaside B&B, telling you exactly how to park your car, and referring to children as “offspring”. There is a sign asking for quiet between 10pm and 8am. WiFi use requires a polite half-nelson to get a code. The health hazard of the barbecue amongst the dustbins is best avoided. As are the filthy easy-clean plastic chairs and tables. No dishwasher is provided, your holiday starts by hand-washing the cutlery and crockery. The leaking shower, messy grounds, barbecue and kitchen equipment could all be ready for use, but no Manuel was evident. Basil has a wealth of ideas of where best to ‘escape to'. Our parting memory was the new guests next door starting their stay, refusing to use the filthy easy-clean tables, and washing their cutlery and crockery. Letting Basil & Sybil know is pointless as they’ve heard it all before.
