• Having had a total disaster (involving streams, a dog's frisbee and missing set of car keys - you don't want to know) we were lucky enough to contact Gems taxis. The receptionist took our message very calmly and clearly and promised us a cab within 10 minutes. It arrived in 5! The driver wasn't perturbed by our sodden state, the presence of the dog or even the fact we had no money on us (locked in the car!). He took us home and even waited while we attempted to rouse the neighbours to borrow his fare. This failing, he gave us a cheery wave, asked us to drop it into the office when we were sorted and drove off into the night. So far, so brilliant. We duly got into the house (again, you don't want to know) and, this morning, we went to Whitwick and proffered a ten pound note to cover the £8.00 fare. Even with what had gone on, we were offered change!! We owe that driver so much in terms of getting us home and restoring our good humour. Thank you unnamed driver, Thank you GEMS! We now have your number imprinted on our brains and you can look forward to hearing from us when we have our next disaster!!
