• A group of 4 of us went here last weekend after driving past it on many occasions and thinking we should venture in for foood one day. As we walked into an 'oldy worldy' pub with a chalk board menu we thought 'fantastic', just we wanted for our Sunday lunch. With the mains averaging at around £11 - £13 we were expecting lovely, honest and hearty pub grub, but we were to be very disappointed. The steak and kidney pie resembled something from the freezer compartment of a low-end supermarket, the veg was overdone and bland and the new potatoes were underdone. The macaroni cheese at £10 was a very small portion, contained hardly and macaroni (strange, as this would be the cheapest part of the meal!) and was swimming in grease (for this price we were expecting something impressive). Despite being disappointed with our meal, we decided to end our lunch with a coffee - we ordered, we waited, we reminded them we were waiitng, and we ended up cancelling the coffee after a 20 minute wait. We were also shocked when we received teh bill to find that the cost of a Dark Star ale was £3.85, and a pint of lime and lemondade was £3.45!! With so many fine pubs, with great food and more reasonably priced drinks in the local area we certainly won't be venturing here again.
