  • 5 star reviewFantastic food, excellent service and lovely atmosphere. Really love the new log burner makes it really cosy! Had a lovely meal and will definitely come again. We went on a Wednesday night and not only was thefood marvelous but it wasco complemented by fabulous Irish music. A trio, (members of 8#) two fiddles and a guitar. They played mostly Traditional Irish with Scottish and English tunes too. Great musicians, definitely worth a listen, If not for the food, go for the music and the beer just great. We shall be back.

  • 5 star reviewI’ve been coming to this pub for the past 10 years and……..what a transformation I have seen since the new landlords have taken over. This is a super country pub that has recently benefitted from a complete sympathetic refurbishment giving it a homely and relaxed atmosphere whilst still retaining its old world charm. Sandy and Richard and their staff have also created a warm, friendly and busy pub – the service is excellent – the beer is “top notch” and the food is good honest fare and great value for money. Looks like this will remain my local for many more years to come…….!!

  • 5 star reviewFantastic food, excellent service and lovely atmosphere. The new decor is really nice and the log burner makes it really cosy! Had a lovely meal and will definitely come again. The earlier review must have the kings head confused with somewhere else as our experience couldn't have more different.

  • 5 star reviewVisited this charming pub on a weekend visit from London recently, was so impressed that I felt the need to leave a comment on here. The warm, welcoming atmosphere was enhanced by the excellent service that we received from the friendly landlady and her staff. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced (I would recommend the home made pies!) and I will definitely go back on my next visit to the area.

  • 5 star reviewHave visited several times since new Sandy and Richard have taken over and despite what a previous reviewer has said, we have been impressed with decor food and ambience. The new landlords have been running pubs for 20 years and their experience shows through. Richards homemade pies are a particular delight . . . .
