"We are a family run freehouse which serves quality food using local suppliers where possible at fantastic prices. We serve food every lunch and evening (except tuesday) and all day sunday 12 until 7pm. We have been here 5 years and are child and dog friendly, have a massive car park and free to hire function room. Our suppliers are Hartley's butchers from tholthorpe, innshore fisheries and bland's"

• Called in on the way back from Newcastle to Leeds on a wednesday evening expecting it to be quiet. Place absolutely heaving for a theme night which was Fish and Chips. We hadn't booked in but the staff were very welcoming and having waited for a about 30 minutes was served the best fish and chips i have ever had. Pure white fish and obviously homemade chips. Will definately be returning.

• On the way back from Scarborough wanted somewhere that did sunday lunch late and was not disappointed here. Serves until 6.30pm. Choice of 3 meats were still available, served with 2 homemade yorkshires, gorgeous gravy, roast and new potatoes and 3 veg. All fresh tasting none of that frozen rubbish. Followed by sticky toffee pudding which we had to share. I don't know why they advertise 3 courses as im a big eater and 2 did me and all for £10. we will return

• Stumbled on this fabulous village inn by chance. Friendly welcome, clean, warm and inviting. Was quiet with it being a lunchtime but the steak and ale pie was the best i have ever tried and my wife says the lasagne was to die for. Followed by 2 delicious coffees.
