  • 4 star reviewWe would like to thank the manager Paul, and all his staff for pulling out all the stops for us to cater for a wake at very short notice.... The food was beautifully presented and great value for the money... Paul and his team were very kind and helpful and because of them the whole afternoon passed smoothly and without event... we are very grateful to you all... THANK YOU

  • 5 star reviewbeen here to eat a few times now never had a grumble at all the staff are very polite.and the food is lovely they do get very busy but they give you your times for your food which can be up to 45 minutes but i find you can sit and relax have a drink and then enjoy your meal.i am a returning customer and always will as the menu is cheap and food is 100% better than the harvester.

  • 3 star reviewThe Midday Sun does exactly what it says on the tin, it's that simple . . . If you want to eat in a food factory owned by a major pub chain the you shouldn't expect the levels of care and attention that you will receieve from your local landlord or landlady whos reputation and livelyhood depend on you coming back again. The atmosphere is manufactered to perfection, a nice sumptuous interior in warming reds creates a very homeley atmosphere and the TV's at the table showing the live sport is a genius idea - but then these pub chains have whole departments who will have studied this and transformed customer feedback into what you see here. This does throw up some questions though, would a landlord let his gents urinals run constantly wasting thousands of litres of water? would a landlord ensure that every plate of food didn't look like it had been throw together simply to clear another order? If you employ staff on an hourly rate will they care as much as if their livelyhood dependend upon it? The answer is obviously no and it does show in the details - no roast potatoes, cold corn on the cob. That said, you can see that they experience some very busy times and there is great strain put on the staff who lets face it are only trying to earn money to live in this world - I waited a good 15 mins to get served at the bar and place a food order. I was getting very frustrated but the girl who served me did it with a big smile and all was forgiven, you could empathise with her plight of being overworked and underpaid - the food order was going to take 45 mins, well so be it! it's a busy place. We had a man come round apologising about the wait and when it arrived it did so with a smile - was a bit dissapointed in the presentation and quality of the food but you get what you pay for. So the customer service was OK, not bad at all - good staff training was in effect. In summary I would say avoid the place at peak times - I would go back after 7pm to eat the place emptied out and you could tell that a less pressured kitchen would produce better quality food - if the car park is full turn around and come back later. I will return there another time as the menu is a good budget one and i'd like to see the food up to the standards of the customer service. Go but avoid peak times is my advice . . .

  • 1 star reviewservice was terrible, ordered our meal at 6pm and was told our main meal would be 45minutes to 1 hour. when the starters arrived 1 hour later we were 1 short and when we asked about it we were told we hadn't ordered it which we had, no appology and asked if we still wanted it. Dinner finally arrived at 7.40pm, a wait of 1hr 40 minutes and then 1 of our sunday roasts never had any roast potatoes, a total lack of care. i found the staff rude and totally uncaring about their patrons.
