  • 1 star review Went to the old inn last night for my daughters 30th birthday as a family, when we arrived I ordered drinks at the bar then I was asked if I had a table booked I told them it was booked for 7.30, and was told its that one over there in the corner laid up for six. They did'nt show us to the table. The menus were already on the table but what we did'nt know was you had to order your food at the bar. After being seated for half an hour and several attempts to get a member of staff attention to ask if we ordered at the bar but they just ignored us. When we realised you had to order at the bar the starters did'nt take long as only 3 out of 6 of us ordered starters, after we finished the waitress came and took our plates, she then came back a few minutes later and asked us if we would like dessert and my son told here we had'nt had the main, the main came and it was very nice. Three of us had finished eating before the other three and while the three that was still eating the waitress came and asked if she could take the plates which i thought was very rude when 3 people were still eating and as soon as the last person placed her knife and fork on the plate the waitress was there to remove the rest of the plates. I later went to the bar and asked for a sweet and dry white wine and was presented with a glass of rose and it had to be changed. You could not fault the food but the service was appalling will not be going there again.

  • 3 star review16.5.13. Rump steak very nice but served on cold plates thus rest of food got cold. Would not go again unless hot plates served.

  • 3 star reviewWent on a Saturday Night - Rump steak was good but food presented on cold plate thus when food arrived the chips and mushroom were cold. Would not go there again because of this reason. Perhaps if plates could be heated

  • 3 star reviewwent to the old inn on valentines evening with my fiancee the first thing i noticed when we arrived was 4 staff standing at the bar doing nothing and one bar member doing all the serving after ordering the food we asked for no sauces or condiments on the plate and we both got coleslaw with our meals which fareplay the young waitress did take away both meals and replated for us i couldnt fault the staff service always helpful and asking if alls well with our food and prompt in taking our dirty dishes away. the food itself i had the burger stack with a chocolate fudgecake for afters which i thought was faultless absolutely beautiful my partner alyson had the cajun chicken with a chocolate fudge cake for afters but alyson didnt rate the cajun chicken and i must admit it didnt look or smell like cajun chicken it was just like a sprinkle of seasoning on a piece of chicken but the chips bread roll and dessert was lovely i would dine here again but staff should be working and not loitering but unfortunately wouldnt order the cajun chicken again by the way a lovely clean public house and very welcoming

  • 5 star reviewAfter reading some of the reviews we were almost put off. Difficult to understand, some people must be very hard to please. We have now been three times, service has always been friendly and efficient, huge menu, food excellent quality and value. My grandson, who is an expert on nachos, voted them the best ever. 5 stars plus.
