  • 5 star reviewI cannot believe the review regarding the post office staff in Proudfoots. Both my husband and I have always found them to be the most helpful, polite and friendly. The best in Scarborough.

  • 1 star reviewI was shopping in the Newby Store today (15/03/2013) with my two young children and I was so discussed to hear the staff in the butchery department to be swearing and shouting loudly like they were in a pub and a Saturday night. I spoke to one of the butchers who was on the shop floor and told him what I had heard and he stood in front of me and just smiled and that was the manager of the butchers. I shop in the Newby shop every day and find the staff very happy and smiley and welcoming but today I didn’t buy anything in the shop I put my shopping down and walked out. This is no longer a shop that I will be shopping in again is only Mr Proudfoot could hear how the butchers were acting today and shouting I would hope that he would resolve his butchers. Rating 1 star butchers 5 star shop floor staff

  • 1 star reviewThe Post Office staff at this branch are the most unprofessional and miserable staff that I have encountered. Unlike the helpful and friendly staff at other nearby post offices, such as Newlands. The staff at Scalby would benefit from some basic customer service training and an appreciation that they need customers to survive. I will not be using this post office again. I now use MyHermes to send all my parcels and their service is fantastic. Great customer service, happy and knowledgeable staff, reliable service collected from your home and cheaper prices than Royal Mail! Highly recommended!

  • 5 star reviewI do not find the majority of comments on this site to be anyway a true reflection of the customer service at the scalby branch, I have always found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, it is a two way street, I always smile and chat to them and they do the same, if you go about miserable and looking for faults then you can find faults everywhere, life is way too short

  • 3 star reviewI agree that some of the food and goods are good quality and value especially the fresh meat. However I agree with other reviewers that they desperately need some customer service training there. At best most staff seem dismissive (although to be fair one or two are nice)and at worst downright rude. I did complain recently when I witnessed two young assistants bragging loudly about being so drunk the night before that they had "peucked me guts up" that morning. It put me off buying the food they were stacking on the shelves. I go elsewhere if I can - the staff in the local Sainsburys are always nice.

  • 4 star reviewI suggest that Jackie in March leaves a lot to be desired as a customer. Post Office staff do a difficult job trying to keep on top of the constant changes, especially when the head of Post Office has said the system is too complicated but does nothing to simplify it.

  • 4 star reviewThe staff are mostly cheerful, I have found. Not so much at weekends when the cheap kids are employed! Upstairs seems a completely different world. It's calm and full of lots of things that I wouldn't dream of buying - but I do! The staff are very helpful too, even though they seem a bit under-staffed at times! But they all try their best. 9/10

  • 3 star reviewcan u get rid of the miserable unhelpful middleaged woman on the checkout nearest the alcohol dept.she doesnt offer u the cashback facility and has no interaction with customers at all, other than that the shops ok but it seems like customers are forever trying to cheer up the staff cos they all look so miserable

  • 3 star reviewI think the Proudffoot shop is amazing with the stock and variety of products stocked. The Post Office staff leave a lot to be desired though especially the woman with the long dark hair and glasses. If she broke a smile, her face would crack and as a customer you feel a real inconvenience when you ask for anything, even if you only go for a stamp. It does not reflect well on the Post Office service at all. I do not know why she was employed.

  • 2 star reviewI find the Proudfoot staff are ok but the female staff who work in the post office section are rude and ignorant. They stood chatting even tho there was a huge queue of about 7 people waiting to be served. The poor man working behind the counter kept looking at them both in the hope they would resume serving which after about 5 minutes one of them did, turns out she is the one in charge of the post office. Terrible way for a senior member of staff to behave.Because of this I no longer shop for food there, as I combine posting at Falsgrave post office and the Spar shop there

  • 5 star reviewI was recently served by a member of staff by the name of Zak, on checkout 2. This was most probobly the best customer service I have ever received from any store and so I wished to review this as I saw that his name was tarnished in an unfair and clearly bias review earlier in the summer. Zak provided me with excellent service and outstanding manners, he even carried my shopping rounf the store for me as I am incapable of carrying it myself. Thankyou

  • 1 star reviewI was disappointed to see a young male employee called Zac being rude and dismissive when a customer was talking to him. This happened earlier this summer 2011 in the Newby shop in the fruit and veg area & was witnessed by quite a few customers - very poor customer relations to say the least & I don't shop at the Newby branch as often anymore as a result.
