• Just returned from a disaterous meal at the Queen Victoria. The pate was so cold it seemed as though it had just been defrosted. The specials on the board suggested Bream, which we both ordered. We waited ages for the starters which were, to say the least, mediocre. Again, we waited ages for the main course, the fish was cooked reasonably well, but the roast potatoes with honey, were warmed up, hard inside and soggy on the outside. The carrots were not cooked, brocolli and peas were soggy. When a member of staff asked if everything was ok, we said we said we were disappointed with the food, he then went on to ask what was actually wrong. After discussion, we asked him to leave us alone, he said 'well it is pub food, not a restaurant, and the food was delivered to the table according to McMullens requirements' Needless to say, we will not be returning.

• Poor from start to finish. Had to wait nearly half an hour before our order was taken and then another forty minutes before any food arrived. The excuse was there was a funeral party. Extra staff should have been brought in!! Ordered stuffed chicken with stilton. There was about 1/4 teaspoon smeared inside the chicken and that is what they call stuffed. The manager said they don't put much in because it alters the taste!! Surely that's what it is supposed to do. We were told it would be served on a bed of mashed potato and spinach when in fact it was savoy cabbage. Part way through eating we discovered the chicken leg was red inside. The waitress said it was the colour from the bacon it was wrapped in that had caused the redness! I called the mangaer who agreed it was slightly red inside and said "I know you ladies worry about this but it does not effect us men". I could not believe what he said. Someone who is serving food all day should be aware of the dangers of uncooked chicken. As a trained Home Economist I would not recommend anybody to go to this restaurant.
