  • 5 star reviewHad a fabulous evening celebrating my 70th birthday on Valentine's Day with family and friends. The Landlady and staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Food excellent and plenty of it. Enjoyed a game of skittles too! Highly recommended.

  • 5 star reviewMe and my partner went for a meal and the food was fantastic! Huge plate of food for a very reasonable price. All the staff were so friendly and polite. We had a chat with the land lady who was was really nice and we soon gathered that it is a family run pub who seemed to work really well as a team. The pub was really clean and tidy. They even have a kids corner with lots of toys and colouring and an hour after us being there they put a bouncy castle up for the children to play on which I thought was lovely :) would definitely recommend this pub especially for family looking for good food good price relaxing friendly atmosphere. 10 out of 10

  • 5 star reviewI was not able to get into the football club after driving my husband there from Cheltenham, Glos as he was the Physio, I Had little money that's why I couldn't get into the club. A woman on my own and nervous about going into a pub but had no where else to go but to a pub, so I chose the Red Lion is was easy to park. I was greeted by a lovely barmaid who maid me feel at ease straight away. I had enough for a drink and a lovely meal. all the staff were very friendly and polite. thank god for the Red Lion and especially Adele who made me feel very welcome. I went from tears to smiles within minutes of entering the pub. Thank you all so very much, Regards Dawn Ps The pub is very clean with nice décor and is family run, ignore the bad reviews I think they are probably competitors friends. And as for the football club, I have never been treated so badly.

  • 5 star reviewMust say that all the negative reviews must off come in at the wrong time, food it now being served during the week and it is fantastic, all the staff are welcoming and polite, had a meal a couple of nights again which was delicious, the pub is family oriented which suits all customers. Will definitely go back again, really don't understand the previous negative comment, lovely food every day , polite staff, friendly customers, and a good atmosphere!!!! 10 out of 10

  • 2 star reviewWent for a meal on Sunday, average at best food was ok nothing to bang on about. Staff here are not very proffessional at all very casual. Seems most of them are not sure what is going on as they run about like headless chickens. I think that anyone who leaves a good review is probably friends of the people who run this place. I have heard its not great all they seem interested in is locals who they know to fill place with 18-30 yr olds who drink themselves to oblivion. Its only family friendly when Cavery is on I did pop in few weeks back for drink just to check place out whilst on way back from Bristol, Friday evening, seems if your looking for a date with a young bloke who swears and is off his head this place is for you, I did give it another go for Sunday Carvery, but wish maybe I had stuck with gut instinct and not. Shame its a nice area with nice place in right hands it could be great.

  • 5 star reviewFirst time in there today and i must say that the carvery was spot on, the biggest, best tasting plate full i have had for a very long time. i would recommend it, going to take in laws next weekend.

  • 1 star reviewWell where to start its ok nothing special its s pub yes its busy but with obnoxious obvious friends of the people running it, pretty shifty people too. I thought people were just being moaners from recent reviews but to be honest there right. I havent tried food so cannot comment on that but from just having a drink and trying to enjoy any kind of atmoshphere its impossible music is so loud you cannot hear anything anyone says, bar staff serve their friends before anyone else waiting, the woman who is meant to be landlady is TOO friendly if you know what I mean. Think Il give this a wide berth from now on.

  • 1 star reviewDefinatley not a family pub full of loud people including management. Not sure who is staff or customers as everyone and anyone serving behind bar. Had food last sun not great dry meat, veg over cooked gone downhill with current staff.

  • 1 star reviewUnder new management- a family of locals who have no pub experience whatsoever. Most people that go in there are relatives or friends of people who are running it, staff are always drunk swearing and its not a family pub full of loud mouth people off their heads. Shame the last Licenceee was bullied out by this new lot. Wont last long. Shame to ruin a great pub

  • 5 star reviewThe pub is now under new management who are working very hard to bring the pub back up to standard offering a Sunday Carvery and entertainment at weekends. The atmosphere is friendly and the pub is maily staffed by family. Great nights out!!
