  • 4 star reviewRecently attended my daughter's wedding at the Riverside. It was a wonderful day and all the arrangements went smoothly. The staff were efficient and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent and all the guests remarked on the quality. Faye and her team made it a truly memorable occasion.

  • 1 star reviewVisited Riverside Inn at Lunchtime on 2/5/2013. We chose the carvery lunch as this was not a special day out, the meal was priced at £4.95 or £6.95 with a dessert. The meal wasn't great, meat not bad but vegetables poor, the waitress came to clear the table when we had finished and asked would we like a sweet, which we had plus two coffees, we had had 1 pint of lager and a half of shandy with the main course. When my husband went to pay the bill the girl on the till asked for £29, I queried this amount with my husband as to my reckoning 2 x £6.95, plus coffees and other drinks should have come to between £20 - £23, my husband then queried the bill with the bar staff and was told that as we had not ordered our main course and our sweet together the sweet was charged at the normal full price, nowhere was there any notification that both courses had to be ordered together, and neither did any member of staff tell us that this was the case, so to be honest I think we were conned for what was a very mediocre meal. We are pensioners who had decided to have a treat and go out for lunch, it isn't the amount that is in question here it is just the principle, if this is their policy with customers then they will not be getting any further visits from us.

  • 1 star reviewJust one word "disgusting" waited over an hour even though only about 4 other tables occupied. when food arrived the burger was almost raw & came out on a chopping board with cold chips and no salad (but was stated on menu) , the steak was more grissel than meat, a smoked salmon & cream cheese jacket potato consisted of a undercooked potato NO cream cheese and a piece of smoked salmon smaller than the size of my little finger. we asked to see chef but he did not come out. sufice to say we didnt pay...rated one star and that is being generous

  • 1 star reviewNice View, Poor Food, Lousy Service, A Real Shame! Lovely Setting but Mediocre food at best, tried it a few times as it was local and in a nice 'riverside' location perfect for when the relations visit, but sadly the experience was always disappointing! They seem to rely quite heavily on new or temporary staff who didn't appear to have had much training and subsequently not much clue of what they were doing, the girl behind the bar not knowing how to operate the till on more than one occasion. A food focused venue, the Beer seemed largely overlooked and greatly uninspiring. The choice of which consisted largely of unusual brands that were neither your pub regulars or quirky ales from independent artisan brewery's in a 'CAMRA' vain, Sadly I fear that this choice, like so many others made in the running of this business, was based on numbers rather than customer satisfaction. Always overpriced, on my last visit we were overcharged! paying for meals we didn't have! I fear i fell victim, yet again to a lack of training on the till. sadly i did not notice this until after the fact and when i complained...being diplomatic it is safe say that the manageress is not best suited to customer facing roles. Nice View, Poor Food, Lousy Service, A Real Shame
