Visited the 'much improved' Star Inn, Tickenham. Too be honest there is no improvement! Had to send back my beer, it just tasted like it had been hanging around for a long time. The second pint I was given was just as bad. I left my drink and left. There have been rumours of dodgy food too having spoken to friends about this establishment. I have just visited this pub (5th July 2014) after reading positive reviews on tripadvisor. I'm sorry to say but the food I was served was sub-standard. The chicken I ordered was cold and still pink in the middle, the vegetables were soggy and the potato was hard. Not a good, I sent it back and didn't request it returned. The toilets were disgusting, dirty and very smelly. Apparently a lot of work has been done on this establishment, but I cant see where. Please stay away.The Star Inn is under new ownership - and what a huge difference. Tickenham now has its village pub back and a place to eat. We have been avoiding the Star for a number of years, but no more. In the last few months we have eaten there many times. The atmosphere is much improved. Food is excellent. You are assured of a warm welcome by the staff. The landlady in this pub is cold, distant, unfriendly and looks like she is sucking a lemon. If you don't want to run a public house and can't even supplied up a smile then choose another profession.food is just about passable. The waiting staff are a complete opposite to the owner's though.went out for a family meal, ages from 2-86. we all enjoyed the meal, setting & the staff/owners. give this place a try as this year under new management its fab!!!
Good food, great service and the best staff , called in with a coach load of fussy passengers and every one of them was more than happy with the service. I will make sure that I will be taking more customers to enjoy this wonderful pub, My thanks go to the landladies and staff for their dedication.Not family friendly.Will never visit again !!!Sunday 11th March 2012
The most of the meals on the menu were sold out. Only two desserts available and if you don't like chocolate you're out of luck. The bar was so cold we had to put our coats on. To conclude cold, poor selection, try somewhere else.Rating history and distribution
