  • 1 star reviewHad a pint that was off, told the girl who served me it and she tasted it and said its supposed to taste like that! It had a nasty cidery tang to it. Disappointed and won't be going there again until it changes hand.

  • 2 star reviewWe came for a Sunday lunch today . We have eaten here many times before, so we brought family on holiday here from Australia with us. What a disappointment . Most of the staff weren't there. The head waiter, Andy had left. The landlord was rude and our table wasn't even ready even though we had booked. There were no other diners, and although the food was not bad, it was not a patch on what it was 4weeks ago. We would have eaten there many times while our family are here, but we will not go again after today

  • 1 star reviewSince the new manager took over this pub it was a lovely welcoming pub with good food it is now old food but the pub does not go with the high prices it now charges! The manager is very sarcastic and could not care less about his locals, Andy does his best but he is too good for this now so called local!

  • 5 star reviewI came in on Sunday for lunch with my mother as a treat for her. I would just like to say I really enjoyed it, fabulous food and very friendly, helpful and smiling staff. What a change, I had asked if it was under new management because last time I was here it was a completely different atmosphere and I did not recognise the new staff. It's very clean and tidy and the food is brilliant well worth every penny. We shall be returning very soon. I will be recommending it to my friends!

  • 2 star reviewI like dog friendly pubs and this is a good example, but the managers(owners?) are not very good at making people feel welcome

  • 5 star reviewDined here on consecutive nights as I was staying in the area. First class food and service. Lovely fire on a cold evening.

  • 5 star reviewhave visited this pub many times today being my latest the food was amazing my wife had lamb loin and i had whole partridge each with their own sauces which were so tasty.I have read previous reviews on this sight and comments regarding the landlord quite frankly shock me,on every one of our visits we have found him very helpful, polite and very informative regarding his real ales.Sue and Sean work very hard to ensure each customer has an enjoyable visit. As for the comments relating to dogs, the pub is a dog friendly pub and always has been,as it is sited at the end of a walking trail long may it continue to be.

  • 1 star reviewThe place is a waste of what could be a good place. It smells of wet dogs (it is described as dog friendly)! I'm allergic to dogs so it not very human friendly to some of us. Food is served there so it can't be very hygienic. The landlord has as much personality as the animals that frequent the place and he is eager to close the place early at night time once the locals have gone. The landlady smiles now and again when she is away from the landlord. PS: The one star rating is only because it wouldn't save the review if I didn't select at least 1 star!

  • 1 star reviewIf the landlady is serving behind the bar, I would give five stars plus *****, however, if the landlord with his "happy face" and lack of good manners is on duty, then this would deplete to Zero, P.S. The one star left here is entirely for the pleasant smile, good manners and fine service of the landlady.

  • 4 star reviewI visited the Pub with a group of walkers. All very hungry etc. Food was good and tasty - I had two dogs with me, and the landlord was very helpful, told me I could sit in the bar, but as it was a warm and sunny day I sat outside, he carried my drink and food and made sure I was o.k.
